No. As of September 2026, macOS has no built-in way to use an iPhone as a mouse or trackpad. Universal Control shares a Mac's keyboard and trackpad with a nearby Mac or iPad, and Sidecar turns an iPad into a second display. Neither supports iPhone.
No. It works over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Bluetooth gives the smoothest pointer and works without any network. On Wi-Fi, both devices need to be on the same network, and guest or hotel networks may block devices from seeing each other.
No. There's nothing to sign up for, on Essentials or with Full App. You pair by scanning a QR code on your Mac.
The Mac app needs macOS 14 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. Intel Macs are supported up to version 1.2.3. The iPhone and iPad app needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.
It moves your Mac's pointer and types into whatever has focus, key by key, like a real mouse and keyboard. To do that, the Mac app needs the macOS Accessibility permission, which it asks for once.
Yes, with Full App. Bring the app to the front on your Mac, then tap “Grid for …” at the top of the Grid (it shows that app's name). The app gets its own Grid, starting as a copy of your Default grid, and from then on it switches in by itself whenever that app is in front. Every other app uses Default. Tap the grid's name to see all your grids and the apps they're for, or turn Auto-Switch off to keep the grid you pick on screen.
Yes, and it's free for everyone. Open Settings, then Look, to choose System, Light or Dark and an accent color from seven presets or any color you like. Dark mode uses warm, low-glare colors that are easy on the eyes.
