Privacy Policy
Control My Mac is an iPhone app and a free Mac menu-bar companion that let your iPhone act as a trackpad, keyboard and remote control for your Mac.
Summary
The apps collect no personal data. There is no account, and there are no servers. Your iPhone and your Mac talk directly to each other over your local network or Bluetooth, and that connection is encrypted. The only personal data we ever handle is an email address you may choose to give us through this website's optional newsletter form — see Newsletter (optional) below.
What the apps collect
Nothing. Specifically:
- No account, no sign-in. The apps work without any registration, email address or profile.
- No analytics or tracking. The current versions contain no analytics, telemetry, advertising SDKs or crash-reporting services. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first.
- No servers. We do not operate servers that your data passes through. Pointer movements, taps, scrolls, keystrokes you choose to send, app-launch and window-switch commands travel directly from your iPhone to your paired Mac, encrypted, over your local network or Bluetooth. They are used only to control your Mac in real time and are never sent to us or to any third party.
Newsletter (optional)
This website has an optional email signup. It is entirely separate from the apps — the apps themselves still collect nothing.
- What we store: if you opt in on the site, the email address you enter is stored with Kit (kit.com, formerly ConvertKit — the email service we use) so we can send occasional emails about product updates, deals and new apps from the same developer.
- Legal basis: your consent. You join the list only by actively submitting the form yourself — we never add you any other way, and downloading or using the apps never signs you up.
- Unsubscribe: every email contains an unsubscribe link; one click removes you. You can also email info@azurefilm.com and we will delete your address.
- Never sold or shared: your address is used only to send these emails — never sold, rented or shared with anyone else.
Device permissions
The apps request only the permissions needed to function:
- Local Network — to discover and connect to your Mac on your own Wi-Fi network.
- Bluetooth — as an alternative, internet-free connection method.
- Camera (iPhone) — used for exactly one thing: scanning the pairing QR code shown on your Mac. No photos or video are captured, stored or transmitted.
- Accessibility (Mac) — so the Mac companion can move the pointer, click and type on your behalf. Used solely to carry out the actions you send from your iPhone.
You can revoke any of these permissions in your device settings at any time.
Purchases
The Mac app is free. Optional purchases in the iPhone app (the Advanced tier, monthly or lifetime) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details; purchase and subscription management is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Children
The apps are not directed at children under 13 and do not knowingly collect data from anyone — including children — because they do not collect data at all.
Your rights
Because the apps do not collect personal data, there is nothing app-related for us to access, correct or delete on our side. If you joined the newsletter, you can unsubscribe via the link in any email, or email us to access or delete your address. Data handled by Apple (such as purchase records) is governed by Apple's policies; for EU and UK users, GDPR/UK-GDPR rights apply to Apple directly where Apple processes that data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and material changes will be highlighted on this page before they take effect.
